Simo Häyhä | The Deadliest Sniper In Military History
Simo Häyhä | The Deadliest Sniper In Military History.
Simo Häyhä, often referred to as "The White Death," was a Finnish marksman and soldier who gained legendary status during the Winter War between Finland and the Soviet Union in 1939-1940. Häyhä's exceptional skill as a sniper made him one of the most renowned snipers in history. Born on December 17, 1905, in Rautjärvi, Finland, he served as a Finnish volunteer in the conflict, and his incredible marksmanship led to him becoming a symbol of Finnish resistance. Häyhä's tactics, including his use of a Mosin-Nagant rifle and his snow camouflage, allowed him to record an astonishing 505 confirmed kills in just 100 days, an unparalleled achievement in modern warfare. His dedication, courage, and deadly accuracy made him a national hero and a symbol of Finnish determination during a challenging period in their history.

I saw a small clip of him in Camille and had to track down the movie to see his gorgeous self ("My Top 35 Most Handsome Classic Hollywood Actors" on YTube). It was a good idea to see that movie since I was introduced to Greta Garbo and finally saw her mystique and understood why she was so adored and admired.

I’m a 55 year old man who remembers seeing the movies “Treasure Island” and “Peter Pan” on TV when I was younger. I JUST learned of the star of those films’ demise! Why? I don’t wanna’ demean Mr. Driscoll’s work (he was a real gem in these & other works), but his story goes widely untold. He is a genuine example of the pitfalls of childhood stardom (specifically, Disney stardom). Why do the people who’re s’posed to.protect these stars from such demises keep failing? Why do we bury these things? I should’ve known of Bobby Driscoll’s tragedy a long time ago (not to mention the carers for stars like Britney Spears, Demi Lovato, Dana Plato, etc)! I don’t know if it will help, but to ignore these tragedies is SO wrong. RIP Bobby. You ARE appreciated & loved here. 👍

I remember watching Tarzan almost every day when I was maybe five or six. He was the only Tarzan in my book. One thing I just learned was that the Tarzan yodel was actually his own creation. I assumed all these years he just lip synced it to someone else’s recording…I don’t know about other people, but it was way too high for me to imitate…. One of my favorite Tarzan scenes was when he jumped into the river then really started swimming as fast as he could while two crocodiles were swimming for him but never getting close. I’m sure they were props, but they were pretty good props because I thought they looked pretty real…I’d like to see it again to see if I still thing it looks real…Oh! And I like how because Tarzan was raised by apes he knew their language. The chimp that hung with Tarzan was “Cheeta.” Yet the kid found in the jungle he never bothered to name other than “Boy.” That might have been Edgar Rice Burroughs doing though he wasn’t in the original book, but Burroughs seemed a bit raciest so maybe the original wasn’t supposed to be white…

After the Olympic Weissmuller had two 2km. swims , open waters . My nonno,(Grandad) was one of the contestants. Nonno spoke to me a little of the races. But he stressed how arrogant Johnny was ,and on the other hand ,how greater he was as a competitive swimmer. THIS IS THE VERSION OF MY NOONNO!!!!' This is the versions of whom witness the two races. :<In both cases as Weissmuller exited the water , my nonno had already dried with his T shirt on, !!!!!!!! Nonno NEVER mention the above to me , but seeing him swimming at 78, and beat the shit out of me at 22.......Grandad you are THE BEST!!!!!!!

7:28 For the record, almost every man who gets married is marring a woman who's "more than half his age". (since that would include all women starting just over half his age, up through and including all women who are way older than him ...even women up to "infinity" years old) If I marry a 500-year-old woman, then I'm marring a woman who's more than half my age. Whereas me marrying a woman who's "nearly half my age", or "half my age", or "less than half my age", would all be very unusual.

As a child I watched all of his Tarzan movies. I wanted to BE Tarzan. In 1967 at age 15 I got a rope from Sears. A friend and I threw it over a high limb and swung across a big ravine yelling like Tarzan. I have a priceless photo of me swinging across wearing a football jersey. A photo of me in a tree calling home the elephants. A big oil drum in the backyard was Simba the elephant! One friend brought his grandfather down into the woods and demonstrated how I had him swinging across the ravine. His grandfather went into a rage and said I had better NEVER let him do that “NEVER NO MORE!” Of course, I was glued to the black and white TV set watching Johnny’s Tarzan films. I also would topple off the roof of the house onto the roof of a utility building and roll off onto the ground. It amazes me that I survived to 72! I would often shout ‘Umgawa!” Wonderful childhood memories!
